Life for a BAMS student in a government Ayurvedic medical college is academically intensive and deeply rooted in the study of traditional Indian medicine along with modern medical sciences. In the first years, students transition from school-level science to a detailed curriculum covering subjects such as anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry along with foundational Ayurvedic texts like Samhita and basic principles of Ayurveda, spending long hours in lectures, laboratories, and practical sessions to understand the human body from both modern and Ayurvedic perspectives. As they progress through the course, the focus gradually shifts to professional subjects such as Dravyaguna (Ayurvedic pharmacology), Roga Nidana, Rasashastra, Panchakarma, and Kayachikitsa, along with increasing clinical exposure through patient observation and case discussions in Ayurvedic OPD and hospital wards, helping them connect classical Ayurvedic knowledge with practical patient care. Daily life usually revolves around a structured routine of classes, practical training, clinical postings, and exam preparation, often balanced with hostel life, group study with classmates, and participation in seminars, medical camps, and cultural activities. In the final phase, the compulsory internship places students in different departments of the Ayurvedic hospital where they actively assist in patient.
